Testimony begins in Brian M. Cooper homicide trial

A Sister Bay gas station owner told a jury in Door County Circuit Court on Monday about the day a Plainfield, Ill., man walked into the store to report a murder.

Brian M. Cooper, 36, is charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and one count of third-degree sexual assault in the early morning Aug. 19 death of Alisha Bromfield, 21, and her unborn daughter. Bromfield, also of Plainfield, was six months pregnant when Cooper allegedly strangled her at the Sand Bay Resort in Nasewaupee. Cooper was not the baby's father.
