Aurora BayCare Medical Center is getting a refund of more than $100,000 on its local property tax bill.
The refund is the result of a dispute between Aurora and local taxing entities on whether medical equipment at the hospital at 2845 Greenbrier Road should be taxed as personal property.
A state appeal board in 2009 ruled in Aurora's favor, lowering from $4 million to $6,400 the taxable value of the equipment.
The issue remained unresolved until another state panel recently ruled against the city of La Crosse in a similar dispute with a medical clinic. With that ruling, Green Bay city officials awarded Aurora a refund of $101,911.
The city now is seeking partial reimbursement from Brown County, Green Bay School District and other taxing entities that also collected from the hospital.
