Dog owners applauded a recent decision to allow leashed pets on the river walk urban trail and hope it's a first step toward allowing dogs in city parks.

On Tuesday, the Oshkosh Common Council approved an amendment to the city's parks ordinances to allow domesticated animals on the river walk provided they're on a leash.

Oshkosh Parks Director Ray Maurer said the change was made because the riverfront trail system ties into the Wiouwash Trail. ...
