The Zippin Pippin at Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay is nearing its 1 millionth rider.
The Zippin Pippin roller coaster will reach its 1 millionth rider this weekend or early next week, according to Dawne Cramer, Parks, Recreation and Forestry director for the city of Green Bay.
The city spent about $3.8 million to acquire the Zippin Pippin rights and rebuilt it at Bay Beach Amusement Park. It opened on May 21, 2011. The wooden roller coaster was purchased from Memphis, Tenn., where it was said to be Elvis Presley's favorite amusement park ride.
