Green Bay aldermen temporarily blocked a sale of the downtown Clarion Hotel on Tuesday, saying they think the city-owned hotel could fetch a better price.

The action came one week after Mayor Jim Schmitt and other city leaders cheered a $2.7 million deal with the hotel's management firm, American Hospitality Management Inc.

The city purchased the hotel at 200 Main St. earlier this year as a stop-gap measure to ensure that another buyer did not disrupt plans for expansion of the adjacent KI Convention Center. ...
