Most local strawberry growers are expected to open for pick your next within in the next week.
When strawberry-picking time lands here in late June - like it will this year - by early July people think all the berries have been picked and polished off. Not so, says Lois Cuff, owner of Cuff Farms in Hortonville.
"It seems like after the Fourth of July the water faucet just turns off and nobody comes even if you have a huge amount of strawberries sitting there yet. People feel like, well, it's too late. And we're hoping to shake the bushes and get enough people out there."
