There is a stack of letters on Mark Olinyk's desk that overlooks the showroom floor of Mark Toyota Scion, some thanking him for his support of various causes or organizations while others are asking for it.

"I like to be able to handle these personally," said Olinyk, 57, of the requests. "I want people to know that it's not coming from a corporate office, but from someone who's passionate about being involved in the community."
