Fire destroyed a garage early Wednesday morning in Suamico.

Crews answered a call at 4:53 a.m. at 13881 Velp Ave., after passers-by reported trees on fire about a mile north of School Lane and just west of U.S. 41.

When they arrived, they found the roof and front of a building in the woods on fire and called for help from Howard and Pulaski firefighters, Suamico Fire Chief Douglas Doefer said.

One Suamico firefighter sustained minor leg injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.

The property is owned by Herbert R. LaPointe and is valued at $74,500, according to online Brown County land records.
