Bugsy tournament this weekend

The Bugsy Softball Classic will run from Friday, June 21, to Sunday, June 23, at Optimist Park on De Pere's east side.

The 14th annual coed softball tournament is a fundraiser that honors the memory of Jim Baumann. All proceeds from the event will support local charities.

The event will start Friday with a Community Night at the park, featuring music by Lumparokee from 7 to 10:30.

Tournament play will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

A silent auction will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The tournament will include food and beverages each day.

Ice cream socials in city parks

De Pere's park-and-rec department will hold Summer Kickoff Ice Cream Socials in a few of the city parks next week.

The socials will run from 5 to 7 p.m. on the following days: Tuesday, June 25, at VFW Park; Wednesday, June 26, at Optimist Park; and Thursday, June 27, at Legion Park.

Families are invited to attend the socials, meet the city's summer playground staff and learn about the children's activities planned for the parks this summer.

Ice-cream sundaes will be available for $1 at all three events.

Heritage Hill hosts Civil War weekend

Heritage Hill State Historical Park in Allouez will hold its annual Civil War Reenactment this weekend.

The park will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22, and noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 23.

The event commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Three famous battles will be staged with period canons and muskets. A number of other programs and interactive activities will be held.

Daily admission is $10 for adults, $9 for senior citizens and $8 for children 4 to 17 years old. Children 3 and younger as well as Heritage Hill members are free.
