Guardhouse gets new location at Heritage Hill: The guardhouse from the former Fort Howard was moved to its new location at Heritage Hill Thursday, June 20. It will join other buildings from the fort in a designated area in the park.

For the fourth time in its great-grandfatherly history, the old Fort Howard guardhouse took a road trip Thursday, this time to take up what should be its permanent spot at Heritage Hill State Park.

The building served as part of an entry point to Fort Howard in the 1830s, eventually was moved to Broadway and later to Bond Street, where it served as a private residence until being condemned and donated to Heritage Hill in 2009.
