Approximately three billion pizzas are sold in the United States each year.

That's a lot of pizza. Or, if you are in a recycling frame of mind - that's a lot of pizza boxes that may have some recycling potential. Unfortunately, pizza boxes are one of the most common items people mistakenly recycle.

It's not that a pizza box can't ever be recycled. Only the portions that have not been contaminated by food, like the lid, can be recycled. It might seem like a hassle to only recycle a portion of a box, but food is one the biggest culprits in sabotaging the paper recycling process. ...
