Mayor vetoes Manitowoc parking ordinance

Mayor Justin Nickels has vetoed the downtown parking ordinance passed 8-1 by the City Council Monday night.

It would take seven votes to override Nickels veto of the new ordinance that revises parking restrictions in downtown Manitowoc. Several months of study and public input went into the process.

The new ordinance calls for 2-hour parking on many downtown streets, including Eighth and Washington streets, with unlimited parking in certain sections. ...
