A power outage can't stop the nation's largest renewable energy fair.

The Midwest Renewable Energy Association's annual energy fair kicked off Friday morning despite an early morning storm that brought heavy rain and lighting. Ellie Jackson, MREA event coordinator, said a lightning strike not far from the fairgrounds damaged phone lines and caused a brief power outage at aboue 8 a.m.

"One of the great things about being at an energy fair with tons of electrical professionals is that those things tend to be quick fixes," Jackson said. "The fair always goes on rain or shine." ...
