At the plate: Austin Diemer (Cal State Fullerton) was hit by a pitch and scored in a first inning, and he drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the second. The Woodchucks led 4-0 after the top of the second, as additional runs scored on a wild pitch and a passed ball.

On the mound: Rice University's Austin Orewiler, who had an 0-4 record through his first nine relief appearances, pitched two scoreless innings for his first save. Three relievers combined to allow one hit and walk none over four innings.

Extra bases: The win snapped a nine-game losing streak. ... The Woodchucks (9-14) trail first-place Lakeshore (15-8) by six games.
