Green Bay firefighters are objecting to an experimental program to check on discharged hospital patients in their homes.

City officials began the program with Bellin Hospital earlier this year as a way of minimizing the need for patients to be readmitted to the hospital.

Advocates say the so-called Hook and Ladder program uses firefighters to combat rising health care costs and to improve the level of patient care available in Green Bay. ...
