Counties gear up for Obamacare enrollment

County leaders are wasting no time preparing for the wave of clients who will sign up for health care when President Barack Obama's landmark legislation to cover the uninsured is implemented in October.

Economic support offices in Winnebago and Outagamie counties plan to bolster their workforces in anticipation of clients' needs. Enrollment for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act begins Oct. 1.

The Winnebago County Board this week voted to accept $322,000 from the state for additional staff and increased work hours for existing employees to handle the influx of clients. ...
