Basil owner to host Weston Irish Fest

A Weston business owner with Irish roots has plans to start a festival in the village to celebrate his heritage, despite a request denied by village officials to contribute to half of the festival's start up costs.

Jim Daly, owner of Basil restaurant and an Ireland native, formed a Weston Irish Fest planning committee to start an event of the same name.

In a letter sent Monday to the Weston Village Board, Daly asked the village to contribute to the event through room tax funds. The Village Board during a regularly scheduled meeting Monday voted to provide $1,500 toward the event, significantly ...
