The city will pay up to $15,000 for a study that will help determine the future of its fire department.

RW Management Group Inc., a Menasha consulting firm whose leader serves as De Pere's acting fire chief, will spend several months studying the department to prepare a recommendation about whether it should be merged with an area department, consolidated with city police to form a public safety department or left alone.
