McDill Elementary School second-graders recently had the opportunity to experience a school day as a pioneer child. The entire day on May 10 was devoted to immersing the students in the life of the pioneers.

As they came into school that morning, dressed as pioneer school children and carrying their lunch pails and baskets, the boys bowed and the girls curtsied a greeting to their teachers. The second-graders then entered their classroom, lit only by sun, to find the room divided - boys on one side and girls on the other.
