Woman faces possible prison sentence after pleading guilty to child neglect

A Racine woman authorities say was involved in seriously injuring an 8-month-old baby, pleaded guilty in Wood County Circuit Court to felony child neglect.

Kurstyn L. Bieneman, formerly of Nekoosa, also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor child neglect and two counts of obstructing an officer. She faces a maximum sentence of eight years and three months in prison. During Bieneman's appearance Friday, Wood County Circuit Judge Greg Potter dismissed and read into the record a charge of felony child abuse, which would have carried a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
