Members of Wisconsin's gay and lesbian community hope the U.S. Supreme Court ruling Wednesday that found legally married gay Americans eligible for federal tax, health and pension benefits and California's gay marriage ban unconstitutional will put momentum in the effort to legalize same-sex marriages in their home state.

The ruling, however, has no direct effect on the state of Wisconsin, where gay marriage is banned in the state constitution, and legal same-sex marriages are not recognized.
