Letter: History will vindicate gay rights movement

Anti-gay prejudice on wrong side of history

EDITOR: Coming from a community where gay pride celebrations and parades have long been held, with official sanction from top city leaders, I'm heartened that Wausau overcame some initial, ugly prejudice around the proposed gay pride parade and, with Saturday's March for Equality, is moving toward a more tolerant outlook.

Change is the only constant in nature and life. Slavery, female servitude, colonialism, etc. all were once thought to be correct, God-ordained ways of structuring human affairs. Now they're universally seen as horrid practices from a benighted past.

Similarly, our homosexual fellow citizens will one day attain full equality, free of societal stigma, which should be welcomed by all.
