Bays beat Denmark in final inning

Sturgeon Bay scored on a wild pitch in the final inning to beat Denmark, 2-1, Wednesday in a Legion baseball game in Denmark.

Casey Giesseman led off the seventh inning with a walk and Michael Larsen reached on a bunt to start the winning rally for the Bays. Denmark threw the ball away at first base trying to make a play on the bunt, and that allowed Giesseman to advance to third base and Larsen to second.

Denmark then brought in its ace pitcher, Corey Fischer, to try to get out of the jam. Fischer struck out the first batter he faced, but then threw a wild pitch to the next batter and Giesseman scored to ...
