June 28 in history

June 28, 1955 - Reporter has trouble with his forecasts: Luckily for the Press-Gazette weather "expert" he has an able assistant in Herb Bomalaski. Left to his own devices, the weather picture would be a shambles, if a perfect record of clean misses is any criterion.

For instance, all last week the "expert" stubbornly clung to sports shirts while the weather was cool enough to make a tie and coat comfortable. So what happens? Monday he shows up in tie, etc., and the thermometer hits 83, highest reading in the state.

It figured. Every time he carries a raincoat, the sun beats down. Let him live dangerously, however, and it pours rain.

Thanks to Weatherman Bomalaski, however, he has no worries today. Bright sunshine and slightly higher temperatures are the forecast for today, with the mercury expected to tops 84.
