Down at the library, the summer reading program for kid's starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Just drop in at that time for the first program which is "Making Dirt."
Our librarian, Holly Cole, has had a special butterfly habitat made by her husband, Jerry, to raise monarch butterflies in the library this summer. You can bring in milkweed plants with eggs on them for the project as soon as you see the butterflies arrive here this summer. The eggs are little white dots on the leaves, sometimes on the undersides.
The library is closed Thursday for the holiday.
I stopped in the information center for Egg Harbor this past week. It is a cheerful center and there was a bouquet of white single peonies on the table.
The Fourth in Egg Harbor features a parade at 1:30 p.m. The fireworks will be held at dusk Wednesday - July 3 - on the waterfront.
A Joseph and Ida Haberli family reunion is scheduled for noon Sunday at Zion Lutheran Parish Hall in West Jacksonport. All relatives are invited for this potluck dinner. Bring a dish, drinks and a lawn chair. Plates and utensils will be provided.
There is lots of music going on this week in Egg Harbor. The Peg Egan concert series features Tonic Sol Fa. Bring a chair or blanket to the free 7 p.m. Sunday concert. It's a quartet singing pop, gospel and holiday songs.
Big Mouth & the Power Tool Horns will give a concert from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Harbor View Park. Bring your chair or blanket for this rock and blues music.
On the Fourth of July, 6 Figures Band is in concert from 2 to 5 p.m. in Harbor View Park.
