State corrections model stalled but could start soon

A corrections program that could eventually serve as a model for the entire state expected to kick off earlier in the year won't start until at least this month.

Local and state officials are working out details of the Community and Residential Program, designed to help offenders with a medium to high risk of re-offending to become productive members of society.

Officials wanted to start the program in February, but still are working out many of the details, such as drafting contracts and nailing down qualifications for facilitators in the programs, said Portage County Justice Programs ...
