NAMI Fond du Lac announces July events

Friendship Corner announces its July calendar at NAMI Fond du Lac. Programs include:

? In Fond du Lac, In Our Own Voice (IOOV) is a unique public education program developed by NAMI, in which two trained consumer speakers share compelling personal stories about living with mental illness and achieving recovery. NAMI Fond du Lac has two individuals trained for the In Our Own Voice program.

IOOV presentations are given to consumer groups, students, law enforcement officials, educators, providers, faith community members, politicians, professionals, inmates, and interested civic groups.

? NAMI Basics will be starting July 8. It is a six-week educational program, offered free of charge, that provides learning and practical insights for families. Classes are taught by trained parents who have lived similar experiences with their own children.

? NAMI Family Support Group will meet July 18 at 6:30 p.m. This group is offered by NAMI affiliates free of charge in confidential and safe settings, run by volunteer facilitators who are also family members living with mental health challenges in their lives, and fosters group discussion and group interaction.
