Rash of vehicle break-ins has police urging residents to lock cars

Police are urging residents to lock their cars after a rash of car break-ins that have occurred in Stevens Point in the last week or so.

Police received at least eight reports of vehicles being broken into and items taken since June 20 with many others reporting their vehicles being broken into without anything being taken. Items taken during the break-ins include tablet computers, cash, ATM cards, car stereo equipment and sunglasses.

Stevens Point Police Chief Kevin Ruder said it's hard to say whether the incidents are isolated or whether there is one person or a group of related individuals ...
