Officials want to remind residents about local regulations regarding fireworks and other July 4 events, as the community readies for its annual celebration on Thursday in Wisconsin Rapids.

The Wisconsin Rapids Park Commission will not allow any blankets, tarps, chairs or other coverings on the riverbank and other city-owned park land until 6 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the commission. Anything placed on the riverbank before that time will be removed and taken to the city garage. Items not picked up within the week also will be disposed of, according to the news release.
