Budget cuts state aid to Door schools

Local school districts say they expected the losses

All five Door County school districts are among the 229 districts across the state expected to see a drop in general state aid for the 2013-14 school year, according to estimates released Monday by the Department of Public Instruction.

Although the budget allots an overall increase in education aid, those 229 public districts collectively could see a $56.793 million decrease, the DPI said. Another 193 public school districts could see an increase of $103.162 million in aid, and two school districts will see no change.
