Omro dealership says it didn't know odometer replacement was illegal

The owner of a used car dealership in Omro fined for improperly replacing odometers said he didn't know what his business was doing was illegal.

Park Place Auto Sales, located at 2224 E. Main St. in Omro, was sanctioned by the state Department of Transportation after investigators determined that the odometer in a vehicle that had 225,000 miles on it was replaced with an odometer that read 160,000 miles, and the odometer in another vehicle with almost 300,000 miles was replaced with one that read 160,000 miles, said Field Investigator Dreher Dysert.

The dealership's license was suspended ...
