Local districts receive mixed news about state aid

While most local school districts are projected to see a slight increase in state aid in 2013-14, more than half of districts statewide will see less funding than the year before.

The Department of Public Instruction figures show that 229 school districts, about 54 percent, will see a combined decrease in state aid of about $56.8 million, while another 193 districts will see a combined increase in general aid of $103.1 million. Overall state aid will be $4.341 billion, about a 1.1 percent increase, or $46 million, from 2012-13.
