A string of rainy days in June helped keep Wausau at cooler-than-average temperatures for most of the month, according to weather statistics from the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

June's average temperature of 64.7 degrees was 0.6 degrees cooler than normal and nearly 4 degrees cooler than last June.

Nearly 6 inches of rain fell during the month mostly in relatively light storms. Light rain fell on 20 of 30 days, and heavy rain fell 11 days. Wausau received 1.5 more inches of rain than normal, as the start of this summer marked a stark contrast from last summer, when hot and dry weather ...
