One person described the line along the Second Street South sidewalk as "an Easter egg hunt for adults."

But this was July 4 and the adults - some of whom were on the downtown riverfront site as early as 5 a.m., a Wisconsin Rapids police officer observed - had blankets, tarps and lawn chairs in arms, ready to stake their place for Wisconsin Rapids' late evening fireworks show.
