Olde Ellison Bay Days went off this past weekend exceptionally well because of beautiful weather, Tony Shalhoub as parade marshal and a huge crowd.

I have a list of the parade float winners: The first place winner was Grand Marshal's Award, Pirates in the Harbor, from Sister Bay; second place Most Humorous: VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Liberty Grove; third place Most Inspirational: Door of Life Christian Church of Sister Bay; and honorable mention went to the Viking Grill in Ellison Bay.

The Service Club Raffle winners are as follows: Leinenkugel kayak to Chuck Slight of Ellison Bay; Green Bay Packers tickets to George Bauman of Deerfield; dinner for two in the Door to Mary Reddin of Ellison Bay; gift certificate from Gills Rock Stoneware to Joanne Wedig, Iowa; and a tool basket from Savory Spoon Cooking School to Helen Loewi of Sister Bay.

Book Club

Readers Rampant Book Club of the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove library plan to meet at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss "Flight Behavior" by Barbara Kingsolver. The story is about a wife and mother and how her awareness expands from a small-town girl to the plight of global warming. How did this happen? Come and attend and enjoy the discussion and perhaps have a cookie or two.

Happy trails to you

Last Friday Ellison Bay said goodbye to one of its most revered citizens. Robert Kuzniewski retired from the post office in Ellison Bay after 15 years of service to Northern Door. We wish him well and thank him for all of his help throughout his time here.

Happy retirement, Robert. We will all surely miss you!
