Economic growth has been stifled by an incomplete interchange between U.S. 41 and U.S. 10. Those traveling east on U.S. 10 can't head north on U.S. 41, while traffic traveling north can't access the westbound lane of U.S. 10. The result is large patches of trapped real estate and frustrated town officials.

But hope is on the horizon with the long-awaited State 441 Tri-County expansion project, which is scheduled to break ground in 2016 after 14 years of planning.

City Notes

Dean Fox, Appleton's new information technology director, won't have to move after all. Nor will he collect a $20,000 relocation bonus to move just 10 miles into Appleton to abide by city code.

With a stroke of his pen, Gov. Scott Walker eliminated the contentious issue for the new hire that flared in City Hall in March. Walker loosened residency rules statewide so cities can't force non-public safety workers to live within city limits.
