County revives effort to rename Stewart Avenue

A Marathon County committee is considering supporting an effort to rename a portion of Stewart Avenue to University Avenue - a controversial proposal that Wausau City Council members rejected by a narrow margin in 2007.

Hooshang Zygami, president of the University of Wisconsin Marathon County Foundation, will present the proposal at Wednesday's county Public Safety Committee meeting. If the committee recommends approving the change, and the full County Board agrees, Marathon County Administrator Brad Karger will send an advisory to Wausau Mayor Jim Tipple asking him to send it to all ...
