Event celebrates butterfly mosaic

A party to celebrate the installation of the Arbutus Park butterfly mosaic, a community art project, is scheduled for Tuesday in Appleton.

The free and public event, which includes a 7 p.m. mosaic unveiling, runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Arbutus Park, 501 W. Atlantic Street. Other highlights include a potluck supper and live entertainment by The Swing Time Big Band of Appleton.

The project is one step of a larger initiative to revitalize the neighborhood surrounding the park. Hundreds of children and adults have worked more than 1,000 volunteer hours to create the mosaic.
