New & improved

TOMAHAWK

Tomahawk is home to a new silent sporting goods store, a business with few predecessors in the Northwoods city.

Changing Gears Pedal and Paddle, N10796 Highway A, offers bikes and kayaks for purchase and for rent, as well as apparel, and camping equipment and supplies. The store also offers bicycle maintenance and services and shuttle service and deliveries. The store celebrated its grand opening on June 22, though it officially opened nearly one month before.

Changing Gears is online at www.tomahawkoutdooradventures.com.

Fairs & fests

Today's the last day of Wausau Area Jaycees' Fourth of July Celebration at Marathon Park on Stewart Avenue in Wausau. Events begin at noon and include a demolition derby, carnival rides and a petting zoo with pony rides. The festival is free, as is parking, but the grandstand event - the demo derby at 2 p.m. - will cost $7 at the gate. For more information, call 715-842-2688 or log on to www.wausau4thofjuly.org.
