Record rain leaves mark: Roof collapses in Appleton, Neenah streets flood

Officials are keeping a wary eye on the sky today after a record amount of rain fell in the Fox Valley early Monday, causing streets to flood in Neenah and a business's roof to collapse in Appleton.

"There's potential for some pretty heavy rain floods," said Tasos Kallas, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Green Bay. "With this much moisture in the air, it won't take a lot to get a quick inch of rain in a small period of time."

Appleton received a record-setting 2.35 inches of rain Monday. The previous record was 2.18 inches, which occurred in 2000. ...
