Red Cross provides service to military families

The Services to Armed Forces program is a cornerstone of who we are and what we do at the American Red Cross. The military and their families have been supported by the Red Cross since the Civil War in the 1860s to today's deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Every day, men and women answer the call to service in the Armed Forces. Today's military families - active duty, National Guard, reserve and veterans - are located in virtually all communities throughout the country. Many are located in communities without a military installation close by to support them.
