EDITOR: Late last month, the Wausau Area Youth Symphony Chamber Orchestra wowed the Wittenberg audience with an excellent two-hour performance under the inspired leadership of Patrick Langer. It was a rare treat!

There were five violinists, one violist, two cellists - all remarkably competent, well-rehearsed, disciplined and focused. Some were truly professional. Afterward I heard words from the appreciative audience like "remarkable," "astounding," "refreshing," "unexpected," "incredible," "dedicated" and "a real treat." The program was ambitious with difficult Baroque and Classical concerti, the tempos not compromised and the students well trained. And they all seemed to love what they were doing!

As I sat in the beautiful Wittenberg WOWSPACE building with its excellent accoustics and the "Along Wisconsin Trails" photography art show hung on its walls, I marveled at my surroundings both for my eyes and ears in this tiny, rural Wisconsin village. The whole evening was a tribute to beauty; a result of talent and hard work.

The city of Wausau should be very proud to have been able to provide such ambassadors representing the quality of educational opportunities available to its young people. Congratulations to the Wausau Conservatory of Music!
