Settlement of claim on mayor's remarks goes before council

The city of Oconto would pay $1,750 to settle a potential legal claim from a Suring High School athlete and his family over remarks made about the player by Mayor Victoria Bostedt at a March council meeting.

The agreement was approved 10-0 following a closed session on July 2. Final approval was expected at the City Council meeting July 9.

The mayor's comments - related in an incident at a Oconto at Suring boys basketball game - prompted almost every other top city official to sign a complaint about Bostedt's comments and her conduct since taking office. ...
