Legion baseball: Patience pays off for Black Sox in blowout win over Rapids

When Ben Schmid found the strike zone Wednesday night, the Plover Post 543 American Legion baseball team had a tough time putting the ball in play.

The problem was the Wisconsin Rapids right-hander struggled mightily to throw the ball over the plate.

Benefiting from a patient approach at the plate, the Black Sox took advantage of Schmid's early wildness in their Wisconsin Valley Legion League matchup and went on to cruise to a 10-0 victory in eight innings at Memoial Field. ...
