District eliminates 21 FTE teaching positions to help bridge $3.4 million budget shortfall

While the Wisconsin Rapids School District addressed its $3.4 million budget shortfall for 2013-14 without making significant cuts to programming, district leaders say next year might be a different story.

This year, the elimination of nearly two dozen full-time equivalent teaching positions and several other changes helped balance the budget, though district leaders say they already are looking at the numbers for 2014-15, and this time they might not be able to keep from cutting programs, Superintendent Colleen Dickmann said.
