NewPage to partner with Swiss chemical producer to build Michigan plant

NewPage Corp. has entered into a long-term supply agreement with a Switzerland-based chemical producer to build a precipitated calcium carbonate plant at its Escanaba paper mill, the Ohio-based papermaker announced today .

The partnership with Omya will create seven jobs, save the papermaker transportation costs and reduce the mill's carbon dioxide emissions by using the gas in the process, according to a NewPage news release.
