Homicide defendant wants to withdraw guilty plea

A 21-year-old man scheduled to be sentenced for killing his former girlfriend wants to withdraw his guilty plea in the case.

Gabriel L. Campos, Marshfield, told Wood County Circuit Judge Todd Wolf he would like to fire the public defenders who represented him, and he already has been assigned a new attorney.

"I feel they do not have my best interests at heart," Campos said, of the people who previously represented him, in the letter that was dated June 4. In the letter, Campos also said he no longer wanted to plead guilty to the first-degree intentional homicide charge. ...
