Hot-air balloons brightened a gray ski this morning at the Wausau Downtown Airport.
The Wausau area should see a partly cloudy day with a high temperature around 83 degrees today.
Meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Green Bay say there's about a 20 percent chance of rain in the area, mostly before 11 a.m.
The afternoon should bring partly sunny conditions, with a south wind at 7 to 10 mph, nice weather for softball players, downtown Wausau Chalkfest artists and visitors to the Wausau Downtown Airport for the Wausau Balloon & Rib Fest.
The evening, which will feature a Balloon Fest fireworks show, is expected to be partly cloudy, with temperatures dipping to 62 overnight. Calmer winds, from 5 to 8 mph, should give balloonists a good chance of launching.
Sunday will be another good day for outdoor activities, forecasters say. They predict a sunny day, with light winds and a high near 84 degrees.
