The hot-air balloons, of course, are majestic.

They are especially breathtaking early in the morning when they take off as the sun is just rising, or when they glow in the evening as darkness falls. The balloons are what attracted throngs of people to Wausau 11 years ago when balloon pilot Steve Woller organized the first Balloon Rally & Glow.

But a hot-air balloon can be a fickle craft, and if the weather isn't calm, it can't be flown. That's why a rib cook-off was added a few years later to the event that's now known as the Wausau Balloon & Rib Fest. And as people visited this weekend's event, they ...
