Drivers fall asleep at wheel, one injured

An Oconto man fell asleep at the wheel and struck the wooden "Welcome to Carlsville" sign July 5 in the town of Egg Harbor.

James T. Carriveau, 55, was traveling north on Wisconsin 42 with his cruise control set at 55 mph at 6:04 a.m., according to a Door County Sheriff's Department accident report. The GMC Sierra pickup truck drifted off the right shoulder, striking the fire number sign at 5616 Wisconsin 42, crossing over a driveway and hitting the 6-by-10 Carlsville sign. The truck then rolled at least twice before coming to rest on the driver's side, south of Morning Sun Road.
